Barbara Brigitta Hardmeier
Barbara Hardmeier was born in 1957 in Zurich, Switzerland. She studied audiovisual design and painting at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where she graduated in 1985. Barbara participated in different international exhibitions in Italy, Turkey and Mexico.
She uses materials in an unusual way and combines different styles to create different versions of the same theme: reflections, emotions together in a collage.
In 2011, in the occasion of the prestigious Biennale of Chianciano, Barbara Hardmeier signed the "Manifesto of Riflessismo", together painters Richard Antonelli, Daniel Icaza, Franca Cannizzaro, Heidi Fosli, Jette van der Lende, Bogdan Chiriton, Marcel Ballan, Daniela Grifoni, and Ljubomir Simonovsky. According to the objectives of the "Riflessismo", art should be a means to reflect upon human malaise, weaknesses and negativity, as well as a tool to determine the pleasure of seeing, touching and hearing, thanks to its expressive forms.
Barbara enjoys travelling and being exposed to many different cultures and environments, hence her ability to speak several languages, such as: English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch and a little bit of Italian and Chinese.
